Thinking Back to March 2013

With March fast approaching  (not fast enough), I have been thing back to a journal I made in 2013.  My Mom was living with us -- and her dementia -- at that time, and I was always wishing for winter to end so that I could tire her out by walking on the local Rail Trail, and inspire her to sleep all night.   I created this little journal then, and have made some additions in recent years.  My Mom passed away in the summer of 2016, not having a clue who I was, or who she was, either.  Alzheimer's Disease it a terrible thing.  This little journal brings back better memories.  The cover is cloth over a cut up cereal box.  I added a HUGE opening handle, so now it does not sit close to friends.  All the edges are zig-zagged on my sewing machine.  I'll be making a new one again this March, and you will get to see it later.

February 25 2022 Index Cards

The weather has moderated slightly today -- we are out of the minus degree F. temps for a bit and it is really nice to have a day when the temperature rises to a "balmy" 17F.   Sometimes small things please me, and any indication that summer will arrive again is one of them.

Today, I'm showing some more of the 3x5 index card art backlog.  I am working on another journal in the year-long series, but it is not yet done enough to show.  Perhaps next wee

The Lilac Journal and More Index cards

While I have been recovering, I have also been making Junk Journals.  This one, the Lilac Journal, is one of a series of small journals (less than 15-20 pages each) which will be used to document each month of the year.  There is an abundance of writing space in the journal, both full pages and "secret spots on the backs of tags, in tiny notebook inclusions, or inside envelopes within the journal.  And, of course, two more of the 3x5 index cards are shown at the end.

The 3x5 cards for today:
