February 25 2022 Index Cards

The weather has moderated slightly today -- we are out of the minus degree F. temps for a bit and it is really nice to have a day when the temperature rises to a "balmy" 17F.   Sometimes small things please me, and any indication that summer will arrive again is one of them.

Today, I'm showing some more of the 3x5 index card art backlog.  I am working on another journal in the year-long series, but it is not yet done enough to show.  Perhaps next wee

The Lilac Journal and More Index cards

While I have been recovering, I have also been making Junk Journals.  This one, the Lilac Journal, is one of a series of small journals (less than 15-20 pages each) which will be used to document each month of the year.  There is an abundance of writing space in the journal, both full pages and "secret spots on the backs of tags, in tiny notebook inclusions, or inside envelopes within the journal.  And, of course, two more of the 3x5 index cards are shown at the end.

The 3x5 cards for today:

Catching up on the completed 3x5 index cards

Before I fell quite ill, I began making a 3x5 index card every day, as part of my Art-Every-Day self-challenge.  While I was ill, I didn't do much, but as I recovered, I began anew.  I just didn't have the energy to organize them, scan then post.  So, now, I will begin catching up on the many, many cards I've made in the last year.  I'll post both back and front of a single card each day.

Wishing for Spring Cards

It's cold.  And it is getting colder.  The temperature is dropping and is to reach -12F tonight.  It is snowing, fitfully, but getting heavier.  So, I am wishing for spring.  Today, I found some wider scraps and made 19 cards.  Six each of the three florals, and one of the drawn floral on a gridded background.  Now, the wait begins until I can see actual flowers in the garden.

LOTS of Envelopes and 2 Scrappy Cards

Today, I managed to finish two more scrappy cards that I started yesterday.  Then, in preparation for a mass mailing, I made a bunch of 5x7 inch policy envelopes  and a bunch of small 2 3/4 x 4 3/4 inch envelopes to go inside the large envelopes and corral small items.  Used some unloved 12x12 papers for the all of them.   It is so nice to use my stash and clear the way for new papers...

Back Yet Again, Feeling much better

I know, I've been gone for quite a while.  Cancer and then a second heart attack will do that.  Oh, well.  Here are a few cards I made today using some pretty small scraps.  Hope you enjoy them.

Accordion "Tags"

Somehow, I've overlooked posting this.  I made it last weekend in response to a challenge.  It uses many different materials and techniques (which was part of the challenge);  gloss medium, gold leaf, white gesso, texture paste, stencils, book pages, glue dots, pens, die cuts.
