New Video: Rotary Cards, Part 1

 I've posted a new video to my YouTube channel.  It showcases the first group of my on-going creation of rolodex-style rotary cards.  I make these cards from scraps of paper and other bits and bobs.  Enjoy.

New Life for Unwanted Paper: Masterboards

 As usual, the battle of scraps continues. This is a 12 x 12 inch masterboard I made today. And the scraps are still piled high. This will be cut into smaller pieces such as tags and journal cards. The base is a 12x12 piece of paper that I got in a paper pad, and it was not something I would otherwise use. I then covered it with book page and layered embellishments atop that. Rotating the page insures that there will be no "right side up issues" when it is cut.

Some Easy Belly Bands

 I made 6 belly bands for my journals today.  Each started with a book page and went on from there.  Many of them are making good use of a snippet roll I did a few weeks ago (and used it all).  I make snipped rolls and clusters often, using the scraps that are always to be found on my desk.  The backing for them is a partial roll of leftover drywall tape (the paper-y kind) so basically all of the items used are scraps.  Here are the belly bands, each measures about 2x8 inches.  

More Paper Clip Stuff and cleaning my Table

 

I'm seemingly still on a paper clip binge; creating lots of stuff with paper clips has become something of an obsession.   Some time ago, I saw a YouTube video by Ceri the Crafter making paper clip pockets.  Today, I decided to give it a try.  Here are the pockets, along with photos of the two-sided tags I collaged to fit into the pockets.  This used a LOT of the bits and pieces of paper that was covering my worktable. And it was fun.  The photos are of family ancestors.

Some of the finished Proto-Clusters

   

Yesterday, I published 4 strips of proto-clusters I had made this week.  Today, I've completed 7 of them as I have determined where they will go in junk journals.  Here are the seven.  Most of the photo are of ancestors.  

A Few Starter-Level Clusters

   When I make clusters, I often do a series of them at one time.   Using a piece of vellum, I stamp images all over it to make the initial strip background more interesting.  Then, I add bits and pieces of scraps that are on my worktable, layer by layer.  Finally, I add a focal point.  I think of them as proto-clusters. These are not completed until I have determined where they will be used, then, I separate them, add another background, more embellishments as needed, and the work is done.  Here are 4 strips of the proto-clusters up to the focal point.  These will be finished as I use them.  

Cleaning Up My Worktable

 

Periodically, my worktable gets *covered* with bits and pieces.  That means I need to spend a bit of time cleaning (blah!).  Sometimes I can put that cleaning to good use.  Today, I made a bunch of snippets from the labels laying around.  These have already been cut in half and will be cut again as I use them.

 I guess you could call me obsessed.  I just can't stop working with scraps and more scraps.  Not only do I make cards and journals, notebooks, 3x5 card and more.  Now I've started to decorate my Rolodex (yes, a Luddite here!),  Here are the first 36 of them.  No scrap can go unused!
