When I make clusters, I often do a series of them at one time. Using a piece of vellum, I stamp images all over it to make the initial strip background more interesting. Then, I add bits and pieces of scraps that are on my worktable, layer by layer. Finally, I add a focal point. I think of them as proto-clusters. These are not completed until I have determined where they will be used, then, I separate them, add another background, more embellishments as needed, and the work is done. Here are 4 strips of the proto-clusters up to the focal point. These will be finished as I use them.
