Driving 80 miles for a Pizza!

Who would have ever thought that to get a decent pizza, you'd have to drive 80 miles?   Not me, of course.  To get a good hot dog is almost 200 miles.   The Pizza is on the far side of Helena, the hot dog is in Butte.  Ah, well, the scenery on the roads to those places is spectacular and so the trip goes pleasantly  (those are round trip distances, too, not just the one way distance).  I love my little town, but great food is not one of its strongest points.  Great steaks and potatoes are pretty easy to find.  But then, I didn't really move here just for the food.  We sadly have lost a couple of restaurants this year, but a new one offering breakfast and lunch will be opening in a month or so.  I'm not generally awake at the usual "breakfast" time, so that may not help much.  I'm a night owl and sleep in til late morning, so the lunch option may be my best bet.    I do sometimes envy those (I used to be one of them) who could order take out from any number of places and ethnicities.  I miss that.  Lots.  But not enough to move.   So, I'll have my long distance pizza runs and miss getting pita bread (none around here) with a Greek Salad.  Ah, well. 

Getting Reacquainted with my Gelli Plate

I have had to relearn to use my gelli plate this week.  I'm in a gelli print swap this month and I've not used the plate in literally years.  It feels like - and probably is - like starting over.  So, never wanting to just dump usable artwork, I made 4 cards out of one of the prints.  The background print is very light yellow, tangerine, and magenta, then I added layers of gray, darker gray, and finally black.  The inside of the card has a white page for writing a note.

A third Pocket folder for Journaling

I'm still creating more of the little pocket folders for journaling.  I'm showing three photos of this one.  First, of the closed folder; second, opened to show the internal envelope-style pocket closed; and third, the fully opened folder, with white paper sticking out to show the inside pockets.  The metal plate on the cover says "Remember."

Art-every-day. A new page in the Bird Envelope Journal (page 4.11)

I try to work on this journal from time to time, and have added another page.  This is page 4.11, part of the first booklet of pages in the journal.  Another of those lovely photo collages and a bit of lace.

Index cards 5, 6, 7

Continuing my index card a day self-challenge, here are 3 more.  I've done the backs of all the index cards so far completed so that the back of each will compliment the front of the next one when they are bound together.  For example, the back of card 1 will coordinate in "feel" with card 2 and so forth.

Little Junk Journal of "stuff"

For just about a week, I've been working on a small (4x6) junk journal.  I made this one in the form of an accordian, so there are pages on both the "front" side of the journal and on the reverse.  I've posted the pictures starting with the front cover and flipping the pages open until I reach the back cover, then turn to the back side and flip those pages until I am once again at the front cover.

And that brings us back to the front.  It was a fun little journal to create.

Starting 365 days of Index Card Art

I been bitten by the bug!  Today, I'm starting a challenge (to myself) to create a piece of art on a 3x5 index card every day.  This post is a catch-up of the first 4 days.  I've made a few rules for myself, too.  Each card should take less than 10 minute to complete (no counting drying time, if that is applicable, and be reasonably simple to do, using stuff on my table.  Each time I finish two months of cards, I will assemble the cards for those two months into a book using "perfect" (glue along the bound edge) binding.  Would you like to join me in this effort?
